I think it's preference. I never really ask a girl out or ask to be in a relationship. It's pretty obvious that it's serious if you've slept together, make out all the time, and see each other several days of the week. Eventually she will ask, "so is this serious?"....or maybe pop the "love" phrase. Anyways, if you don't want her to have the wrong idea, don't contact her more than once a week.
Other signs to look for and things you can try:
1) Does she call you her "boyfriend"
2) Do you call her your "girlfriend" in front of her when you are with other people? If she's not comfortable w/ it, she will bring it up.
Again, it's all preference. I don't think it matters if you ask or not at this point.

I asked out my last girlfriend out on Christmas Day at 2:54 in the morning through a text message. We had been texting non stop for like 2 weeks and the last time we say each other was like the day before Christmas Eve. Come early Christmas morning we were still up texting and saying cute things as if we were already together. So I just decided to send her a text saying "I wanted to do this in person, but what the heck, ITS CHRISTMAS!... Will you go out with me?" She quickly replied "Yes I will! I must say that was some Christmas present"

well no, ur not in a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship automatically. and it depends on if you already know her or not. if you do go, "i really like you alot, and was hoping that'd you'd wanna be my girlfriend", if you don't know her i suggest you get to know her before you start going out.

ask, that way u know whether or not u are exclusive. if u dont thne that means one of could still date other people becase nothing was ever declared exclusive in the relationship, meanng just u and her

sometimes it just happens, or some guys say things like "lets make it official" "I wanna be with you" "lets hook up" "waz up with you and me" if you wanna be smooth with it, thats the best line
