the Rosetta Stone is the best, however is very expensive... try the ones they have written above, you can try the Eurotalk series as well... maybe you might want to go to Germany at least 2 months.... for english speakers German might be a pain, is like three times harder than Spanish but not impossible. Good Luck.

My brother learned to speak Russian in a few weeks by reading language books from the "for dummies" collection. You should get German for dummies or An even better option would be to buy The complete idiots guide to speaking the German language.

Try these free german language courses, http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/german/
http://www.dw-world.de/dw/0,1595,2547,00.html
http://german.about.com/
Also go to your local library and see what's available. Look online for book reviews. Go to the bookstore and flip through the books to see what's more your style before buying. I would also recommend something with audio.
I don't know if I would buy the dummies and idiot's books, they don't have the best reviews. They cost less than 20 bucks and you get what you pay for. I also seriously doubt anyone could really learn a language with them in only a few weeks.

i would recommend your local library, Hastings and the Instant Immersion set (CD-Roms or Cd's) which can be found at your local Hastings (well i found mine there!) and you could also try the for dummies books... but i think the best way (i dunno in 4 months) would be to get a German personal tutor its easier to get 1 on 1 help than a class TRUST me neway
ja ne!
