And I've also heard it's bad for you and I've heard its good for you. Which is true? Was told to give it to my son to help him sleep but don't want to burn it.

Use a double boiler to warm the milk. Place a pot of water on the stove and wait for it to boil. After that, place a smaller saucepan or pot filled with the milk into the larger pot. Wait for the milk to be heated and then pour into a cup and serve. I don't think there's any harm in drinking heated milk. After all, milk is usually pasteurised and heated before packaging right.

If you happen to have one of those latte makers that some people have at home you can always use the steam wand just like you'd use for the latte or capp. You could also stick it in the microwave, heating it for a minute or so at a time and stirring it in between to make sure it gets heated all the way through. Or like the other people said, just use two pots, one with water in it and then the other with the milk in it, and stirring it as it heats.

Best way to warm it up and be sure that you arent burning it - is to boil a shallow pot of hot water.. turn it off - then put the cup of milk in the water - that way it warms it up but wont burn it... It is a good thing for soothing and comforting just before bed!

two easy ways to warm milk without burning it...

1) zap it in the microwave...be sure to stir it and don't overdo it
2) put it into a long glass or bottle and set that into a container full of hot water...that's the old fashioned way like people would do to warm baby bottles

whether or not milk is actually good for you depends on differing beliefs...personally i avoid it since i eat a plant based diet

a great book to read is "disease proof your child" by dr. joel fuhrman..."the china study" by t. colin campbell, ph.d is also a good read if you want to know some of the reasons you shouldn't drink it

ultimately it is up to you :o)

cheers,

moon

Warm it slowly, on a low temperature. Milk isn't BAD for you really. It contains something that is supposed to help you sleep (forget what it's called at the moment), but it's not the best thing to drink sugar and fat before bed.

My mom always put it on the stove in a pot on low. You never boil milk, just scald it. She used to put a small pat of butter in the pot so she knew it was hot enough when the butter completely melted. Then she would put a teaspoon of sugar in it and it was like drinking melted buttery ice cream.
You can also give him chewable calcium supplements an hour before bed to calm him down.

you warm the milk to be almost the same as the body temp or a little more, put hot water over the milk bottle in an appropriate container but avoid reheating formulas beyond 100min. or 1.5 hrs

Desperate Housewife, microwaving the milk can do, as the other answerers have already said. But when I was young, there was no such thing as a microwave appliance. What my father did was steam the milk.

microwave, and milk is good for you, it is fattening to have anything right before bed, but as long as your son is active, and does not already have a weight problem then this should be just fine.
