Well that depends, which was he, was he an atheist or was he a heathen? Atheist don't believe in any form of religion and heathens believe in a different religion than the Abrahamic three (Christianity, Muslim, and Hebrew).
Come to think of it, I believe the followers of Asatru call themselves heathens.
Regardless, an individuals religious preference has no bearing upon their morality. There are immoral zealots and there are moral atheists. Do not confuse piety with morality, they are not one in the same.

It is not unusual for an intolerant religious bigot to presume that only they have morals, after all, only their religion could be the true religion.
As for unscathed, I bet your atheist heathen lunch mate was relieved that you did not torture or murder him or her as is the habit of religious nuts.
Atheism is the cure for religious bigotry and terrorism.

I think most reasonable Christan's don't believe that atheist are evil or demon possessed. I'M sure there are some perfectly nice atheist out there but nice isn't going to get you to heaven. Conversely there are some perfectly not nice Christan's out there that will make it. Nobody said life was fair but I do believe everyone will at least have one time in their life where God will give them a chance to believe.

probaly because and this might come as a shock to you.. not all athiests are bad!.. they are just people with different beliefs then yourself. you should have a more open mind about people and not call them heathens just because they have different views then yourself.
