Yes. The only way to lose weight is to consume less calories than you burn.
To lose weight, experts agree you need to exercise for at least 30 minutes at 60%-70% of your Max Heart Rate (MHR). A simple way to calculate MHR is 220 minus your age. So if you’re 45 years old, for example, your MHR would be 220-45=175. 60% of 175 is 105, and 70% of 175 is 122.5. So you should exercise daily for 30 minutes at a heart rate between 105 and 123.
You don’t need additional equipment—infomercial products like the Ab Lounger, Sauna Belt, etc. are all worthless gimmicks so don’t waste your money.
Eat breakfast, and eat five small meals per day instead of three big meals. On the other hand, if you don't wake up ravenous, then you ate too much the day before. Stop eating at least two hours before you go to bed. Cut back on the foods you eat with high fat and high sugar content. Eat only single servings (read the label) with less than 3 grams trans fat and 3 grams sugars. Become familiar with websites like http://chubbyloser.com that contain good information on what to eat, including supplements.
Don't consume alcohol—alcohol is nothing more than empty calories with no nutritional value. Some people will argue that alcohol has some health benefits when consumed in moderation—I’m not debating that—but we’re talking about weight loss here. Lay off the booze if you want to lose the belly.
Drink lots of water, then drink more. Not tea, not Gatorade, not milk. Water. If your urine isn’t almost clear, you need to drink more water.
Woof.

First off, it depends on the rigor of the workout. But an additional 30 minutes a day, as long as it is not too strenuous, will do wonders for you. The best thing to do if your goal is to lose weight is a combination of dieting and exercise, exercise being the more important of the two. Losing weight is based on one thing, complicated by the media and all these diet plans but it's just calories, not carbohydrates not fat, nothing but calories determine your weight. 3500 Calories make a pound, conversely, a deficit of 3500 calories a day makes you lose a pound. Does this mean you should stop eating to lose a quick pound? No, of course not, that can actually be counter-productive to your goal because it makes your body thing it has to hold on to its fat stores because there is a lack of food, you won't want to work out nor will you be on the top of your game. People have this preconceived notion that running produces the max calorie loss, this isn't the case. Based on a 150 pound woman, the less you weigh the less calories you burn (that's why it gets harder and harder to lose weight the farther you are a long), you burn 100 Calories per mile whether you are running walking or jogging! So if you have time and can run only two miles and have to stop, it would be a better idea to jog 3 or 4. But if you want to train your muscles for a particular reason or event, then running is the way to go. Keep in mind though, that recreational activities can be just as good if not better, and for most people are much more enjoyable. Hope this helps! :)

You may lose weight but remember muscle weighs more than fat so if you do a really good job you may gain some muscle and lose fat thus weighing more than your target weight. I think eating better food is key to losing weight for me at least: less meat, more vegetables and fruits, more salads and less sweets.
Make excersise fun :go swimming, play tennis, rent a kayak, hike. There are so many ways to excersise. Surf, rollerblade, snowboard, rock wall climb- there are so many more I am not even listing. Take a brisk walk through the cities gardens and parks with your walkman or ipod. excersise can be spiritual, in ways. Have fun with it.

If you walk SLOWLY for 30 minutes, its is NOT the same as if you JOG for 30 min. And neither is effective if you are munching the whole time.
Losing weight is a simple formula. Burn off more calories in excersise (and day-to-day life - like walking) than you take in.
Body fat is simply STORED energy. You have to burn off the energy that you take in from your daily diet, and any extra energy that your body needs will come FROM your reserves (aka you'll burn that fat and turn it into energy.)

You will lose weight, but not much. After a while, you will stop losing weight and will need to increase exercise and eat healthier to keep losing. It all depends on how much you weigh now and how much you want to lose. The more you weigh, the faster you'll lose...but you'll also need to lose more.

Matters on what your diet is. You will lose weight if your calorie expenditure exceeds your calorie intake. Exercise increases your calorie expenditure. It also helps build muscle, which increases the amount of calories your body burns to maintain itself. But if you are still eating more calories than you burn, then you will not lose weight. So, for example, if during your day you burn 2,000 calories--including those burned during your workout--but eat 2,500 calories, you will actually gain weight.

I don't see why you wouldn't. Your burning off calories that you weren't burning off before. You just cant start eating more because you think you need to make up for the lost calories. Don't eat a lot before you go to bed either. It might not show at first but your weight will drop

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
