The cut is on the inside of my lower lip. I was eating pizza and didn't feel the pain as I bit into the pizza. Now it really hurts and I wonder how it will heal.

I don't want to frighten you, but if the cut is large, it will have to be closed with stitches.

2 years ago I had a fall and injured my face, elbows, leg, etc.. My lower lip was cut by my teeth (I fell on my face). At the A & E (Accident & Emergency) Department of my local general hospital the doc sewed up the cut. This was necessary to keep out foreign matter from entering the wound. The thread dissolved on its own some days later. You will need to go on a liquid or semi-liquid diet until it heals.

It won't hurt because you will be given an anesthetic before the stitching. Good luck!

try rinsing your mouth out with 1/4 teaspoon salt in a glass of warm water. swish the salt water around in your mouth gently at least 2-3 times a day, especially after you have eaten. It should help. My dentist has his patients doing that after oral surgery and it also helps it to heal faster and usually takes most if not all of the pain away. you might also want to try something for canker soars, because usually if you bite anywhere on the inside of your mouth, you develope a canker soar.

First off ouch. Second off anything with Acid such as pizza sauce and such will cause it to heal. Now it will heal but it will probably take it some time. Since it is in the mouth.
