whatever jaw joint on your face is right next to your ear, thats what hurts (on the left side of my face) Also, whatever is hurting the bone/joint in my face, its pulling (or pushing, i cant quite tell) on what feels like my inner ear, making my ear hurt whenever I close my mouth after opening it really wide, or chewing something hard.

I had a ruptured ear drum back in Feb. 2005, but I dont think its that. So whats wrong with me? Should I go to the Dr.? What should I do.

TMJ temporal mandibular joint disorder. This can be caused by having had braces, over or under-bite, or most likely a tightening of the masseter muscle. The masseter wraps from your cheekbone to the under side of your jaw, you can feel it when you clench your teeth. Ounce for ounce it is the strongest muscles in the human body, and can become very tight and irritated. Try doing some simple massage or accupressure to the muscle, and stay away from gum or anything chewy. You may also be grinding your teeth at night, try a night-time mouth guard.

It's called "TMJ" Your dentist may prescribe a multiple-phase treatment plan. Only minor corrective treatment may be needed. Treatment may be simple or require more steps for alleviating the condition, depending on the degree of severity.
