That was during the Sengoku period from about 1478-1605. As Amadeus says, the average ninja was a samurai. It's just that he would have served his lord in the capacity of intelligence and unconventional warfare.

Get your history right!

"Ninja" is a profession.
"Samurai" is a social caste.

Ninjas didn't "fight" they sold their skills and services for pay!

Ninjas often worked FOR samurais.
Many (if not most) ninjas were samurais themselves!

Despite the myth most ninja were just samurai who conducted espionage for their lords.

The only known pitched battle between samurai and ninja was when Nobunaga wiped out the Iga ninja.

Never. Black garbed flying ninja are fantasy. "Ninja" were samurai spies who dressed the part, they didn't fly or jump 10 feet staight up. Since ninja were usually samurai themselves, the question doesn't make sense.

Not nearly as long as the pirates and ninja.

the ninja used the intergalactic forces of xenu to defeat the samurai.

The pirates, bieng smarter than the samurai due to thier consumption of large amounts of rum and parrot companions were not as easily tricked and they have whittled the numbers down of the ninja handily.

It also doesn't hurt that pirates are sacred in the eyes of our lord (the great Flying Spaghetti Monster) and they were protected by his noodly appendages.

ninja and samuri rarely fought. the main battle I know of is in the last samuri. The samuri are extinct and prety much is the ninja. and if your wondering many sammuri trained ninjas unknowingly that these men ended up using ninjitsu as a means to fulfill there personall assinations. so if they were still fighting it would not take long for samuri to defeat the ninja cause samuri new all martial arts of the time
