I have most of the responsiblity in my house hold and when I am on paxil I don't care if anything is done, like paying my bills , doing my job at work, keeping my house clean. Does anyone else feel this way?

YES!
Paxil makes me very carefree as well. It has taken me about a year to find a happy medium. When I was first on it, sad things werent sad. Things that had made me emotional for years, no longer gave me a sense of sadness. I blew everything off! If it werent for my husband, we would be living on the street- and I would not even care! Eventually I weaned down to 12.5 mgs, and now my emotions are pretty normal. I actually get angry over angry things now. You might want to wean down a bit. Talk to your dr. first, and wean very slowly. If you keep this up, you will find yourself in a depression, once your body has adjusted to Paxil- and you see what you have neglected. Good luck!

I have found that most anti-depressants designed to take off the lows also take off the highs. This leaves you kind of floundering in the center. I've had Prozac, Welbutrin and Effexor, but not Paxil. I was that way with the first two, but the Effexor seems to work for me. My wife is just the opposite, the Effexor didn't work at all, but the Prozac works fine. The point is, what you take and the dosage can affect how much of the edges are taken off and how much motivation is is created or removed. Talk to your doctor.

Sounds like your dosage is not quite right, should be easily fixed by a trip to the doctors. Or perhaps you have had about enough of having so much responsibility in your household, is there someone else there who may be able to take some of these chores off you especially since you are working as well. Might be time to look after number one, YOU.

The main reason that I quit paxil was because I was soooooooo sick of not caring. How can you be satisfied with living when you do not give a toss???? You will never get to discover your true purpose.

I have known of people that have taken Paxil and it did not make them feel like that.....maybe the Dr. does not have you on the right strength......tell him how you feel.

well, being care free is not a side effect of your Drug,it can be a symptom of depression, lack of drive or will to do things in a proper way.
