Couldn't agree more. I've noticed that too. For a group of people who so obviously don't have any respect for atheists, they sure don't mind asking us for information about everything under the sun. I'm not here to teach them. My education cost me money, time, and effort. They can spend too.
Their assumption that to be atheists we would need to know everything is based on the "proving a negative" fallacy, i.e.: if my imaginary deity doesn't conveniently explain it, science must explain it or we go back to god explaining it.
That's what happens when they unplug god from the gaps. They want it immediately filled in with something else, and life just doesn't work that way. They need to read more.

And hasn't it been tiresome enough to constantly be told we're going to hell, now I guess I'm going to THE WALL OF PAIN. When Libelism says "God said so"--as if words in a book were "said" by god, I can only shake my head & not even try to fathom such minds, so willing, no, so BLATANTLY insisting all these contradictory "words" are the words of "their" god. I do NOT see Atheists coming on here trying to convert Christians. They're 99% here when they've been ignorantly bashed. I don't know of any Atheist who has claimed to have "all the answers." & isn't that the point? We don't believe in a god who on one hand is "supposed" to love us, & the other, burn us in hell. In your second paragraph, you basically say it all. The premise that if we don't believe god did/does everything, we HAVE to believe in something else, & have that HUGE answer for questions that can't, or haven't been answered. I often wonder why people who should be on R&S gravitate to Philosophy, when religion is the antithesis of philosophy, which is LOGIC. As to Cathy, of course I accept that some people believe in god. I respect their right to do so; it is not my province to enlighten, convert, or bash them. Indeed, it's all rather silly. As you said, "GET OVER IT."

There are some answers science has not yet been able to explain but there sure as hell needs to be answers from the Bilble. If God does everything then can someone have a word to him about the way the world is today, but then the answer would be, but that is man doing it, which then contidicts God does everthing. A person could go crazy trying to work out religion, Glad Im atheist, I dont have to explain cause as you say Nobody knows, Its the Bible that needs explaining

There's a hell of a lot we don't know that we don't make up an answer for.
Like... if the phone rings, I don't say, "Oh! It must be mom!" without looking at the caller ID first.
Why? Because if I make up an answer, then I could be wrong. If I instead wait to see evidence via caller ID, then I can reasonably believe that my mom is calling me.
Theists do the same thing - they have all kinds of situations in which they don't know something and don't feel the need to make up an answer to believe in.
Yet some just can't seem to get that we are doing the same when it comes to things like "Where did everything come from?" or "What happened before the Big Bang?"
GRRRR!

Excellent question. Why do people feel the need to make you believe in God. Then they excuse you by saying, well he is a scientist kinda guy.
Don't we all just accept what makes sense to us? Isn't it okay to be different? I think it is not only okay but it is wonderful. The wonderful man in my life is a Christian, granted not a fundie. So what. We have a lot more things to talk about and do than anything involving religion.

I hate the fact that many people feel a need to "believe" in something. I tell them I'm agnostic. I don't know if God exists or not....they just look at me like I fell off a turnip truck and say, "But what do you believe?" AGH! I feel your pain.

All I know is that assumption makes asses out of the most intelligent people. Why assume anything at all? Like most things, faith, or religion, one's personal philosophy always depends on any person's frame of reference and no one else outside of you can very very accurately describe any nuance of doubt, fear or belief you have for any one thing; same thing goes for your own way of thinking and unique way of reading into everyday current events commentary. this is what makes us special anyway, regardless of skin color or geographical location.

Seriously. I'm not a scientist. I just don't follow a book because it says to, which is because it doesn't make sense, and there is no evidence. Why should we have to prove a negative when they're the ones that are actually believing in something that there is no real evidence for?

The common argument is that, if you can't explain everything, then you must at least admit the possibility that god exists.
I think it's just an attempt to soften up atheists.
With agnostics, there's at least a chance to sway them, but atheists are tougher to sell (gross generalization, but you get the point.)

Don't answer questions like that.
Tell them to study biology, cosmology, and anything else they want to know about, or ask those questions in the proper category! Their intellectual LAZINESS is unbelievable, that's what happens when you aren't taught to think for yourself and you don't look to anything but the BIBLE for your information.
