Btw, Police agencies don't do polygraphs as a rule.

I failed my polygraph and they had me come back later.

The question was
"Is there anything you have failed to disclose during the hiring process?"

I always felt like there had to be something more that I just couldn't think of. Lets face it, who can think of everything they ever did. Anyhow, the polygrapher had to go and get POST permission to change the question to;
"Is there anything you have intentionally witheld during the hiring process?"

I passed because I didn't withold anything intentionally. Stupid I know but, at least I got through.

Anyway, you go over all the questions before hand and give them the explanation. Don't be nervous, you will take the test several times. Each time you will be more relaxed. I have done 3 polygraphs and I think they are very accurate. Just tell everything beforehand so that nothing is a surprise.

Poly's are a "junk science" I've taken two of them in my life time. One said I was "lying" while the other said I was "telling the truth" same questions for the most part and the same answers.. What gives?

What I can tell you is the more times you take the test the more comfortable taking the test you will be. I failed mine the first time because I was freakin nervous. Passed it the second time because I knew what to expect.

Poly's and "telling the truth" are alot like statistics and numbers. If you work with a number long enough you can get it to mean anything you want. Just like a lie or "the truth" if you believe a lie long enough it will become the truth.

For example.. I smoked pot twice in my life.. If you think I never smoked pot in my life, for long enough and enough times.. Well you never smoked it becuase you have your brain trained to believe that. And they say you don't learn anything in grad school.

In the first place, you don't have to explain anything. Polygraphs are notoriously unreliable....no court in the U.S. will permit them nor permit the results of one to be entered into evidence for this reason.

If you fail a polygraph it could mean you were lying or you were sleepy or nervous or the machine was wrong or you have a strange heartbeat.

Police use these things to intimidate the suspect....the results count for nothing.......
