They are ignorant. Most believe that only a fetus must be used for stem cell research. That's what bothers them.

Actually they are not upset about Stem Cell research, what THEY are upset about is the harvesting of EMBRYOS , conceived human beings (They never do turn out to be goldfish) They point out that there is more and more research showing that stem cells, not only can come from many other NON LIFE ENDING sources but that now the scientific community is actually leaning toward some of these other sources as being superior to Embryonic sources. So the issue is not stem cell research Christians are almost unanimously in favour of that , it is the SOURCE of the stem cells that presents Christians with a moral dilemma.
Hope that helps

in the starting up, thanks for the civil tone of your question. the priority is, I actually have not in any respect heard any Christian recommend that the soul is flippantly dispensed by the body, in any such fashion that transplanting a kidney may move portion of one's soul to a distinct. be at liberty to quote any Christian documentation of that position, that's basically mystifying to me. for sure, that could no longer the Catholic position, so I reserve the right to be unmoved even if you do cite some thing. For you 2d hypothetical, the keyword is 'by coincidence shot'. So, no, if so i'd not see a difficulty accepting the organ. A more beneficial precise metaphor for embryonic stem cellular study may be someone going out and capturing a baby specifically so the youngster's organ may be available for transplant. Harvesting organs isn't the point in unintended shootings; or maybe in intentional stress-by ability of shootings. In those circumstances, the organs that 'develop into available' are the bittersweet results of an unrelated purpose (or coincidence). it truly is the version.

I think that 'harvesting' a living child from a womb to use parts is just wrong.... that would be the tizzy part of it.... there ARE other ways in which the research can be done... and I think the research is important, but I don't believe we have the right to claim it is 'lifesaving' while at the same time, ending a life to do it?! I don't give a patootie about the cloning even, at that point.... why kill a child to cure an adult? isnt that just a little 'out there'?

I don't think it's the cloning so much that they are worried about. The current method used to get stem cells involves destroying a human zygote. The zygote is only a few cells, but those who are against stem cell research for religious purposes argue that that little ball of cells has the potential to become a human being.

The main worry about stem cell research isn't cloning, but rather embryonic stem cell research. These are fertilized eggs used for the purpose of such research.
The ethical questions arise from religious viewpoints that an embryo is a human being.

It is just another right wing brain freeze. Follow the money! I think some of the higher ups are getting money from Big Pharma to agitate about stopping this research for this lame excuse that a sneeze worth of cells is a potential life. If I blow my nose, did I kill something?
Pharmaceutical companies don't want cures. IF people were cured of their diseases, they wouldn't spend BILLIONS on prescription drugs that treat only the symptoms.

Most stem cell research depends on the deaths of babies in the womb. That's why we are against it. I would refuse any medical treatment that was developed through stem cell research. I would rather die than have the blood of innocent babies on my hands.

what if it was your baby they were taking stem cells from? The problem is that once the market for stem cells goes up, new ways of harvesting them will be introduced. We don't want baby's to be a part of that equation.

Because it's a divisive issue for Rove and the other strategists to use. It creates a wedge. People are only against it because they're told it's something that is important to you if you're "pro life".
