Well honestly, in the end you will be the one to make the decision so im just gonna speak realistically to you. If you dont feel that you are prepared and wont be by tomorrow, if there is not additional punishment other than what you have listed as the "CONS", then stay at home with the promise to work on it ALL day and know it like the back of your hand. And on friday you will easily score an "A" or "A+". If you are willing to deal with all those CONS that is, say goodbye to your relaxing weekend, homework, homework, homework is all you will see this weekend. So be prepared. And remember that you have to do the speech no matter what. So might as well. Another thing, you shouldnt get used to these habits cuz if you intend to go to college or University, they will tell you when you have to do your speech, and if you are a "no-show",. consider your grade an "F". Good luck. Just practice. Try in front of family. And if you are nervous in class, try looking at your MATURE friends or teacher while speaking, not the idiots that will make you mess up. You better do well. Be sure to tell us all!!

The problem is, practicing a speech is not like practicing other things. You can practice putting pieces together to form a computer or something again and again, but you can't practice standing in front of a group of people and talking about something no matter how many times you talk about the something. I think that is your problem: stage fright. If anyone harasses you about your having it and claiming they never have, they're lying their a** off. They may have gotten over it, but they DID have it at one point. And, if it seems like certain others can just get on up and read their speech, then their speech probably had no substance other than trying to be cool to their friends. So, just do it, it's unavoidable and is always going to be more dreadful in your imagination than it is in real life.
I, personally, have never understood the point of speech classes. If anyone ever gives a speech in real life, odds are they are giving it to an audience who already has an interest in the speech's topic--i.e. they already think it is important and speech worthy. Plus, it was the need to communicate effectively in the Army in loud environments and the need to be understood over the radio that gave me MY ability to exercise my speech ability with clarity, resonance and diction. Okay, so maybe my HS Drama teacher helped a bit too. :P

Since you don't have anything else to do tonight, do homework and practice speech more.
Go to school tomorrow, the teacher knows that you have been under the weather and are suppose to allow you the same amount of days that you have off to make up your assignments. It is not good to let your homework build up. As soon as you get home from school get the homework done and out of the way, so you won't have that guilt feeling. The guilt feeling is the worse thing to depress yourself. Get on top of it and treat it like a challenge and say to your self-- I am going to beat this thing.

Go and get the darn thing over with. You might not have to give it the first day back after an illness anyway--I assume all the students in your class have to give a speech and that it takes several days. That will give you some time to see what the other kids are doing and get some courage from your friends.

What if you don't go in until Friday and your teacher is nice to you and lets you not give it until Monday? Then you'll have it hanging over your head all weekend!
