Depending on what program the PDF was originally created in, you may not be able to. I work with PDFs and graphic design software every day and the only two programs that work when trying to open and change a PDF are Adobe Acrobat Professional and Adobe Illustrator.
Also, if the PDF is created from a SCANNED article (i.e., from a flatbed scanner), it's not editable anyway.

actually some pdf file, i mean they use adobe acrobat to scan the file as PDF , you cant make any change to the file. but some pdf file they convert from other programe like Word,Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator you can really make change.
but in your mention above i am not sure you can make any change,
if you want to make some change in pdf converting from other program you have to know using Adobe Illustrator.

anything else mail me ra_jerm@yahoo.com

Lots of rigmarole.

First, you have to convert the PDF file with a converter. Scan it or convert it to OCR (optical character recognition).

Proofread carefully as you sometimes get odd characters.
Make your edit.

For myself, I copy to Printshop which allows me to save as PDF.

However, as of this date, 3/14/07, there is a free online converter which is easy and works great. Converts to and from many formats.
