You might have broncitis. That is a definite possibility. If you want to know for sure I recommend you mad an appointment with your doctor.

Feel Better!

With a cold you may run a low grade fever (usually 101.5 or less). Bacterial infections have the same symptoms and viral infections (colds) can pave the way for these to occur. A sore throat comes with the territory in both. However, a cold usually lasts 3-5 days (even though symptoms like sore throat and cough may persist). They tell us to recommend over the counter cold products if there is only a low grade fever. For your symptoms I would recommed something like Tylenol Cold and sinus which would reduce the fever and help with the pain (Acetominophen aka Tylenol). It would also help with any sinus pain or pressure because it has a decongestant. You may want to check with the doc if you have a heart condition or if the fever worsens (greater than 101.5 may indicate a bacterial infection requiring antibiotics). Hope you feel better.

98.6 is considered normal. However, if you took tylenol that day it may have masked the fever. Other than that I would say it is probably a cold. Aside from trying the OTC product, keep yourself hydrated, take it easy, and rest. If the symptoms persist for much longer that five days, stop taking the cold product for at least 6-8 hours before checking your temp or visiting the doc to get his/her opinion because it will mask the fever. Like I said cold (viruses) may pave the way for bacterial infections. So, just keep an eye on it.

Remember: never take more than 4g of acetominophen per day (two 500mg tabs four times daily or one 500mg tab 8 times daily) because there is a risk of liver damage.

When I had strep my "punching bag" was red and swolen , so I don't know if it's the same thing or not. But it could probably happen anywhere in there ! I tried gargling with salt water , taking a couple Excederin, and using throat spray ,all the stuff I would normally do and nothing helped ! So I went to doctor . { and I don't "do" doctors, unless absolutely necessary } I was glad I did ! He perscribed something that fixed me right up.I forget what it was , but it doesn't matter because you have to go to doctor to get it ,there's no other way. He said he could have helped me even faster if I was willing to have a "shot" ,but I was not !! If you cannot get appointment very soon go to Urgent Care or E.R. I know you are in pain ,and I feel for you and you can try all that stuff I said or sip hot tea with honey, but unfortunately it probably will not help much ! Sorry ! P.S. Drinking juice will not cause sore throat, unless you are allergic to it ,but it can irritate an already sore throat ! Good Luck!!

Bad infection. It should pass in 3-4 days.

Be nice if you could get ANTI BIOTIC like Penn VK, E Mycin, Tetrex. Would help a lot.

sweetheart you have strep throat--I know it can be painful--the only way you can get rid of it is if you go to the doctor--they will probably do a rapid strep test--and then give you antibiotics---strep is very contagious you should go soon--nothing you do at home will help--hope you feel better!
