I know that Sláinte is Gaelic for cheers. (Right?) Well, help a poor American gal get in touch with her Irish heritage before St. Pat's so she doesn't mispronounce it and sound like an idiot when she lifts her Guinness or Beamish, please? And any other cool phrases you think I could get away with throwin' out would be welcome too. Just so long as ya tell me how to pronounce them.

Being an Irish girl myself...here's some help, lovely
'Sláinte!' (pronounced 'slawn-cha') means "Health!" in Gaelic. A common toast.

Irish Gaelic: Sláinte
It's pronounced "slawn-cha", or something like "It's a lawn chair" very quickly so all the words run together.

I've always understood it to be pronounced slon (rhymes with con) sha. Most Gaelic words don't seem to be pronounced close to how an English speaker would phonetically do so.
