Also, i think we are going to go for about 10 days; if we travel around to places that are relatively close together, what kind of transportation do you recommend (or what is around and easy/and not too expensive)??

Well there are no guarantees with our weather anywhere at that time of year, but if you want hot beachy weather, then you will need to go north.... Try Gold Coast in Queensland, but you would be better going further north to Far North Queensland... Cairns is a great relaxed place and the weather is awesome. If you want more of an outback experience, then consider Darwin in Northern Territory or Broome in North Western Aust. I find them boring to be honest, but may have some real appeal for a tourist...
You obviously just want to have some fun, so i recommend Queensland. Heaps to do.... Theme parks, and the further north you go, you can go out to some islands and check out the Great Barrier Reef. Its beautiful..... Most Aussies holiday there, so we cant all be wrong!!!
Hope you have a great time..........xxxxxxxxxxxxx

As everyone has been saying, you may want to head to Queensland. The weather should be pretty good. We go to the Gold Coast every year and I always get sad when we have to leave. It's so relaxing and there is soooo much to do. Although it can be classified as "touristy" the Gold Coast is always alive and jumping. Street shops on the Gold Coast (from what I have experienced) are mostly open at night and there are endless places to go for cocktails or even just a cup of coffee.
The theme parks everyone has been mentioning, whilst not in the league of Disneyland and other overseas themes parks, are still pretty good and have their own Aussie twist. No matter what age, I would suggest Movie World, Wet 'n' Wild Water Park and Sea-World. You can leave Dreamworld out if u want. Also, you might want to go to Steve Irwin's Australian Zoo. I have not been but apparently it is fantastic.
If you want to steer clear of the "touristy" places then you might want to head to The Great Barrie Reef, Or one of the hundreds of Island off the coast of QLD. See the Island section on this website.

They give you 7 holiday options - Romance, Queensland Style, Relaxation, Indulgence & Luxury, Adventure, Fun and Self-Drive. Pick the one that suits your holiday most and ENJOY!
As we say in Australia - Where else but Queensland...
Just a thought. You said you were looking at around 10 days? You may want to do 7-8 days in QLD and then 1-2 days Melbourne. You can get your beach fix in QLD, but no where is better for shopping than in Melbourne. ;)

Queenslanders are perfectly nice! What's with these stuck up New South Welshmen...? Jealous I spose!
My tip is Surfers Paradise - Gold Coast QLD, Noosa - Sunshine Coast QLD, Cairns QLD or Broome WA.
The best nightlife and multiple theme parks are on the Gold Coast but the weather would average 18-22 C which is 64-72 F, Sunshine Coast a little warmer, maybe you could spend time 50-50 in each location and see and do more, they are pretty close.
Broome and Cairns are warmer but are quieter and both very beautiful, you can go swimming/scuba with no worries of cooler water!
If you plan your trip around the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast you could catch the bus and train between the two for about $17.40 AUD for an adult fare, look it up! http://www.translink.com.au/
*Distance between the two is about 210 Kilometres or 130 Miles.

Broome, which is in the North West in western Australia. It is beautiful there. It is the pearling capital of the world, there is plenty of places to buy pearls, and you can tour a pearl farm and a pearling museum. Broome’s Cable Beach rates as one of the world’s most beautiful beaches.
Although the peak season there is July/August it is nice in June also
