Has your doctor told you that you are depressed? Could it be that you are just very tired and under a lot of stress and that is why you are not sleeping properly. I know of a person who was on Zoloft and diazepam and within a month, she was off both of them, because she just took time out from everything and everyone and got herself some much needed rest. Sometimes, we tend to overwork ourselves and forget that we are not robots and that we need to take things slower. Try and get some help with your child and try and get some time off for yourself. The good thing with Zoloft is that it is not an addictive drug - diazepam, on the other hand, is. I Hope this information helps. God Bless!!

With most anti-depressants it takes 2-4 weeks for them to start working. Maybe your doctor was hoping the Zoloft would have calmed you down some by the time your diazepam runs out so you'll still be able to sleep. It's hard to tell you what will or won't work because everyone reacts differently to psychiatric medication. The only way to find out is to try it, and if it doesn't work, try something else. The doctor could have only given you a little of the diazepam to make sure it works for you before giving you a full prescription since it's addictive.

I don't think you should take Zoloft when you have a 2year old son who is highly dependent on you for emotional need. I'm not a doctor so I can't advise you that Zoloft is bad for you, I can only tell you my experience with it (Zoloft, that is).

After taking Zoloft for about 2to3weeks, you should feel it working. It will feel like the world have opened up and you finally see light. You will be confident, think clearly and goal orientated, all that good stuff.

However, one year into Zoloft, things begin to change. You start to have Homicidal thought (not to kill yourself, but to kill others) and I have come extremely close to acting on it. I am not at all violent but at the time, killing person seem EXTREMELY LOGICAL and Zoloft makes you LOGICAL and emotionless.

Make sure your son have a place to go where he is loved before you do some experience on fixing yourself.

the valium/diazepam is just an immediate effect to take the edge off until the zoloft has time to start working in your system, which is usually 8 - 12 days if taken as prescribed! a few years ago i was prescribed zoloft, ti changed the taste of food and other side effects i did not like it, i do like valium, although it's very addictive, to be honest i think marijuana is safer than either!! good luck!!!

Yes take the medication as prescribed. They will help you. It takes some time to kcik in. If you dont stop smoking weed now your anxiety will get alot worse. And for sleep you have to try this,
wanted to let you know of a miracle pill that puts you to sleep, available over the counter, is actually very very beneficial for your health, and is only 3 bucks!! I had trouble falling asleep for years. I would lay in bed, and think and think and think for hours before I could fall asleep. It was literally driving me crazy!! I had tried every over the counter sleeping pill on the market and nothing helped. I turned to Nyquil and that did the trick. I had been drinking Nyquil almost every night to go to sleep until I stumbled upon this miracle sanity saving nutritional supplement named MELATONIN. And you can buy it at any GNC health food store. I advocate GNC because the melatonin they use goes through 85 different quality checks before its bottled. Buy the sublingual melatonin. The kind that dissolves underneath your tongue tastes like cherries and it’s good for you!! I was shocked at the effectiveness in putting me to sleep. If you have any questions before you buy it the sales associate at GNC should be able to answer any questions you have. It comes in 1 mg, I take 2 right before bed. The only side effects are weird dreams for the first two nights if any at all. You must take the sublingual kind from GNC otherwise it might not work because of quality and potency, should be taken at regular bedtimes in the evening. Must try the GNC brand at your local mall.
God Bless
P.S. after you try it and it works don’t forget to tell others about it. You could be saving someone else’s Sanity

sounds like me 5 years ago. zoloft, pot, benzos, etc.
okay, i can't guarantee success but there are things that can help.
when in your situation (albeit without the child), i refused to go along with the drug regimen. i was never a good patient. antidepressants are scary to me. zoloft put me in a horrible state. i ended up being on one called lexapro for a couple of years and it was very hard to kick...but i did.
anyway, i ended up looking in to a lot of nutritional therapies because i had never taken good care of myself and that seemed to make more sense to me than the generic "chemical imbalance".
i found a few that worked and a whole bunch that did not. things that worked for me:
melatonin for sleep. 3 mg i believe. i just used a generic (i think "natrol" was the brand, i got it at wal mart. it's cheap).
for my nerves i have found that b vitamins work well but i have only found one brand that i could actually feel made a difference. the brand was "megafoods". the pills are called "unstress". they have b vitamins and vitamin c and they are food based vitamins so your body supposedly absorbs them better. i don't know about all the technical but i do feel better when i take them and i have tried many b complex supplements.
another calming supplement is magnesium. there is a liquid kind called "natural calm" that i think works okay. be careful with magnesium though because if you take too much it will give you diarrhea.
keep in mind that none of these things are cure-alls and they won't fix any problems in your life but they can make you feel better just as well as the pills - and at least you know what's in them...and they may make you better able to handle whatever may be troubling you.
these are just a few i have experience with. there are many more things out there you can try. start your research, you'll be amazed.
feel free to contact me if you need help with it.

You dont want to take perscription medications but you were quite happy to get hooked on pot?

hmm, you need a reality check

Yes the combination will work - and guess what, once you are fit and well again you can work as well -

Get out of your house- get a job and stop living off the pension

Put your 2 year old in child care and work in woolies if you have to

I'll bet you were paying for your pot out of your pension werent you!

Disgraceful

I'm not sure how to answer this one, but what I do know is that you have already taken the right step by going to a doctor about it.
First and foremost your son is you priority in your life now, and taking that first step is a HUGE one.. If you find that you are not coping after the 10 days (if not earlier) go back to the doctor.
If he / she is not approciable and you don't feel comfortable with them, find someone who you can talk to and be yourself.
Hope this helps.
All the best.....
