a girl has painted herself with a lot of fake tan and looks a bit orange. Is it off-putting cos it looks so fake, or is it still sexy cos she's 'tanned'?

Not good. Not only off-putting in appearance, but does not make you very impressed with the person who decided to use that junk (instead of the real thing) and didn't even manage to get it right.
