841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."330

that's one of the many reasons I think you should question the Cathechism and if it's Biblical I did and I stand on God's Word [The Holy Bible] ALONE.

I agree with the Church's teaching about Islam. It follows Paul's teaching in Romans chapter 2:14-16:

For when the Gentiles who do not have the law by nature observe the prescriptions of the law, they are a law for themselves even though they do not have the law.

They show that the demands of the law are written in their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even defend them on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge people's hidden works through Christ Jesus.

+ Sources of Doctrine +

The Catholic Church does not use Holy Scripture as the only basis of doctrine. It could not. The early Catholic church existed before and during the time that the New Testament was written (by Catholics).

There were hundreds of Christian writings during the first and second centuries. Which New Testament writings would become official was not fully decided until about 400 AD.

Catholics believe that the Holy Spirit was guiding the early church (and is guiding the church today) to make the correct choices about things like:
+ The Holy Trinity (which is also only hinted at in the Bible)
+ Going to church on Sunday instead of Saturday (which is actually directly against one of the Ten Commandments)
+ The Communion of Saints
+ Which writings include in the New Testament?

Things that are even more modern like
+ Slavery is bad. Slavery is never declared evil in the Bible. This was one of the justifications for slavery in the Confederate States.
+ Democracy is good. The Bible states that either God should be the leader of the nation like Israel before the kings or kings should be the leader, "Give to Caesar that which is Caesar's." This was talked about a lot during the American Revolution.

This second source of doctrine is called Apostolic Tradition.

Do Christians who do not allow the continuing guiding force of the Holy Spirit to make their beliefs more and more perfect, still endorse slavery as Colossians 3:22 commands, "Slaves, obey your human masters in everything"?

With love in Christ.

The Bible isn't the only source for the word of God. The Qur'an is also God's word to all mankind. As a muslim, I did not know that was part of the chatechism, but I will say I have noticed far more tolerance from catholics than other christian denominations. The Qur'an also teaches tolerance, in Surah 2:62. It says ANY (including christian, Jews, etc) who believe in God and the last day can go to Paradise (heaven). Unfortunately, there are some who call themselves muslim that don't follow the word of God in the book they claim to base their belief on. I tried a search for a similar passage from the bible, and came up with nothing, but I am convinced there must be a similar "tolerance" passage. The only one I can come up with off the top of my head is "judge not" because ultimately, it is God's decision alone who followed His words.

I agree :O) The Bible alone comes together as a whole . Is there another that does this ? No. I have studied them all. One of them really, seriously instructs those that read it to kill, maim, abuse, steal, etc. I kid you not. Gee, can you guess which one does this ? So, in their faith, they believe they are to kill, destroy, etc. They are indoctrinated so young, that they are an extremely dangerous people. They have known no other way. Jesus did die for all, but not all believe he is who he said he was. All of those religions believe in a God, or Gods, but not the same God of Abraham and Isaac.
The catholics also hid the book of enoch, but they did not destroy it. I do not think the catholics know of the evil deeds of their church, some just go, trust, and go home.

I don't know what "traditionalist-Catholic" means; I'm a convert to the Catholic Church; I will make 3 years this Pentecost. I only know of one catechism - The Catechism of the Catholic Church. Go there if you want to know what we believe. God bless.

A contrite heart, truly open to the Word of God, has to acknowledge that all truth is God's Truth.

If Catholicism proclaims something as Truth, why should it regard that same Truth as fallacy when it is being promoted by another religion?

Non-Catholic Christian denominations, Judaism, Islam, even Hinduism and Buddhism all believe in and proclaim some elements of God's Truth. This denotes a presence of God in those religions.

All Christians worship God as the Creator of all things seen and unseen. We believe this because it is true. Muslims too believe God is the Creator of all things seen and unseen. Why are Christians justified in proclaiming this Truth but, in your opinion, Muslims are not?

Don't be so selfish with the faith. You should want to find ways to share it with as many people as possible, not hord it for yourself.

By standing on God's word alone, you are standing on the men who translated it, the men who chose the particular canon you are using, the men who chose the particular manuscripts being used for the translation, the men who you "believe" to have written the scriptues in the first place, and the oral tradition for the scriptures based on such. Too, you are placing your faith in your own interpretation as to what your scripture means.

Muslims and Christians do believe in the same God, and they are both Abrahamic faiths. Christians, Jews and Muslims have the same God, but they don't have the same position on Jesus. Actually, Muslims and Jews have the same faith as Abraham, who didn't know Jesus. Is Abraham in hell?

It makes me very proud to be Catholic, it shows that we truly live Jesus' teachings of love one another. That he came to atone for EVERYONE. As an example is given in the story of the Syro-Phoenician woman, that God's love is for everyone.

Note the difference when you take the bible message as a whole the way it was intended and not in pieces and note that it was never meant to be literal.

Also if you know anything about early Christian history when CHristians spoke of the Word of God they were refering to the Logos(the Word) which was Jesus. To hold the bible up in the same esteem as Jesus was blasphemy.

Also your love of the bible and hatred of Catholics is rather contradictory since ehm I hate to tell you this but the bible comes from the Catholics, they compiled and still hold the scrolls to this day.

Also you should read Nostra Aetate the Church's declaration on its relationship to non-Christian religions.

What are you talking about? Catholics and Muslims believe in God too. You don't think that anyone who believes in God and Jesus will be saved? It says that only God can judge on the last day. That's what the bible says too.

If this is true, then the Muslim's awaited Mahdi (Antichrist) is but a footstep away, and the Pope will be surving as his false prophet to try and turn all Christians to Islam. It maybe time for God's people to wake up from their slumber.
