What do you call the ring part of the braces) thats around the back tooth so I can explain why so long?

Not all parts are on, the only ones left are the ones that look like rings and are located in the back tooths.

Thats a guiness world book record. If you go over seven years----- and that is almost unheard of, definate shortening of the root tips, Please post why you were in braces that long. If yo weren't in treatment, ie just didn't go, and brackets stayed on, that's differerent than if you have had wires for 22 years . Just a brace on a tooth doesn't cause root damage.

As long as you have taken very good care of your teeth they shouldn't be too damaged. I must say that sucks to have had braces for 22 years. You might be able to tell where they had been but if you brushed well and what not they shouldn't be damaged.

You should have had the braces out a long time ago. One of our granddaughters
had braces and they weren't in very long. I hope no damage has been done
to your teeth. I'm really glad that you are going to have them out. Good luck.

Nobody wears braces for 22 years. Thats just insane. Did you continue to see your orthodontist throughout those 22 years. If you did, you should have gotten another opinion. I hope its not the same ortho thats taking them out. If so, you have gotten ripped off for the past 22 years.

Why and the world did you keep them on that long that crazy. I would have the orthodontists check my teeth out to make sure there ok because 22 years is just way to long.

If they are straght and you had regular check ups, you will probably be okay. You might need to get a retainer. Let me know how it goes via email. Very interesting, I wore them dang things for 3 1/2 years, sure was glad to get them off. I never heard of anyone wearing them as long as you though.
