It only shuts off when I use the power button. What can I do to make it work right.?

It does not shut down with device manager. It won!t shut down using restart. The only way is the power button. It says its shuting down ,but doesn!t Is there a work around this problem?

Well if nothing other than that works you can always press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, to bring out windows task manager. Then on top o the menu bar, click shut down, and then press turn off from the drop down list. Can't tell you why it wnt turn off regularily, because I dont have the computer in front of me.

It would be nice if you had detailed what you did that didn't work and what you had before. I don't believe that any computer capable of running XP doesn't have software shut down which has been a feature of Windows for years and years.
Are you using START and Turn Off Computer and are you changing from the default (which is Standby)?

older computers dont support shut down from software. Your just going to have to deal with it or get a newer computer

Take the plug and say "good night computer" then PUUUULLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats how you do it.
