Any motivation, thoughts perhaps? I tell myself everyday that I will be responsible and do my work immediately, but I end up procrastinating the whole day and literally finish nothing.. I think it's beginning to be a sickness..

Please help, it's getting to the point where it affects my grades. And I need to raise my gpa at least 0.5 I need mental motivation perhaps, or discipline.

Thank you so much and I deeply appreciate any serious help.

Here are some tips:

-Try organizing your work before you start it, and break it into small pieces. Then just tackle a little piece at a time. That way, it's not nearly so daunting!

-You could also divide your day by pieces of time. Tell yourself you're going to work and do nothing else for just an hour (or even 15 minutes if that's what it takes at first), then give yourself a ten-minute reward, like a cup of tea or something, then get back to work for another period of time.

-Think about your work differently. You may be thinking about how difficult it is, but try instead to think about how capable you are of doing it.

-Find a place that you can focus well in; this is probably not at home! For example, if you're at the library, there's not much there to distract you. Make yourself go to that place (I have a few places, myself) and take everything you will need to stay there (eg. pack some snacks and water) so you have no excuse to leave. When you're preparing to go, don't think about the work, just think about getting there.

-You could find out of there are workshops on dealing with procrastination in your area. Some universities offer them and perhaps other organizations do as well.

-Finally, procrastination is SOMETIMES (not usually, but could be) a symptom of depression. If you suspect you may be suffering from depression, you will feel much better if you seek the advice of a therapist.

Good luck!

Set a bunch of small goals instead of large, catch-all ones. For instance, instead of saying "I'll do all my homework tonight," decide that you'll three math problems before 7:00. Do them, have a cookie, take a break, whatever. Then decide that you'll do three more by 8:00. This is just an example of course. My point is to break up the stuff you have to do as much as you can, concentrate on one little part at a time, and it won't seem so overwhelming that you have to procrastinate.

One thing that helps me is to set a realistic goal. If I tell myself, "Saturday I am going to finish my homework for 'blank' class" and I know it's a lot of work, I usually end up procrastinating and do nothing.

So, what I do is write down a schedule, with check boxes, and I give myself a small amount of work everyday, then it doesn't feel so overwhelming and I am more likely to get it done.

I hope that helped.

Make a list. The visual stimulation may help you get a sense of how much you have to do. That way, you can mentally prepare to do the work. Crossing off what you done may give you a sense of accomplishment.

You definitely seem to want to get on with what you have to do, good on you. I think you may have a underlying issue causing this 'laziness', get yourself checked out by a doctor, you can't really go on like this, not the best way to live. Good luck.

take charge of your life and set goals, be proactive and get on top of things and get on the ball. Don't let things pile up. Take care of business (TCB)
