NO WAY the devil is a fallen angel who god allows to temp us to see if we will sin against Him this tactic is a way to strenghthen our character and better prepare us for the trials and tribulations that life brings. God knows just how much we can bare and He will not put on us more than we can bare and He will not allow the enemy(the devil) to destroy us or let any weapon he forms against us(the believer) to prosper and I am so glad that He loves me because I don't know where I would be without Him and His grace. i just can not fathom how people speak such blasphemy against the Lord. But i can guarantee when they find themselves in a truely traumatic; i can't deal with this situation watch and see who's name they call on and the sad thing is they don't even realize how often this very thing happens. Repent before it is too late because once you perish it will be too late to say you believe, you will get to know the the devil real good up close and personal begging the Lord to send down a drop of water to soothe you soul.
God is real indeed.

God is certainly able to use all things, the Devil included, for His own purposes. He allowed Satan to incite men to crucify Jesus, and in the process He provided the means whereby all men could become free from the power of the Devil, or Satan.
Man is a free moral agent, and God seeks a willing obedience from the heart, based on a love response to faith in the message of the cross.
However when men refuse to submit to God's governance, they inevitably come under the domination of Satan. Some suppose this is their greatest freedom, but in reality they are slaves of sin and corruption.
God is Light and Life and Peace; but when men refuse this, all that remains is Darkness and Death and Judgment.

I think so....He was created by God in the first place....they say that the Lord moves in mysterious ways, one of the reasons we are in this forum, is because we don't understand all the ways...
Edit: and if we are so willing to chalk up things like hurricaines and tornadoes to "Acts of God", why not the Devil? Makes no sense to say that God created and directed one for a purpose, then say that something else that God created works independantly of His plans. If God created the Devil, why is this one creation exempted from a role in God's overall plan? Because he fell? Why couldn't that be part of the plan as well? Because we have free will? Why wouldn't God use His own creation to test that?

This is a good question. From reading the bible we learn that God hates injustice and the various types of sins we are aware of. I don't think that God teaches man through evil yet I do know that we often grow closer to God through suffering. God is there for us whether we are in sin or not. However, be mindful that he can get impatient with us, turn his favor away from us, and allow our choices fall where they may.
Read the book of Job. Isn't it odd that Satan seems to be used by God and he is part of the heavenlies?
I would not venture to say that the devil and evil is part of God's plan but I do believe that God allows us to be tested.

In the Book of JOB in the Bible it's disgusting the complicity of God and the Devil in betting on the sufferings of Job. If for nothing else that Book would be enough to turn me away from religion and puke in revulsion.

My brother used to believe this. He used to use a parable of a king who wanted to test the integrity of his son so he hired a prostitute to tempt him.
He believed the devil was pretty much an angel who tested people's integrity by tempting them, but that he wasn't evil.
I on the other hand am more of a materialist. I don't believe that which I cannot see or see evidence of...

No, not me at least. Jesus was the teacher and the Bible teaches. We have a free will, and God can punish us when we are damaged beyond repair. As Jesus killed the fig tree, God can do that to us too and say " You are done!". He gives life and He can tke it away.
