If you use it for weight loss, it is bad. You're a teen. You don't need to be worried about it.
If you're using it for relaxation, it's fine.

It really depends on whether you are early or late teens. Here is an extract from the link:
Green tea contains caffeine, which may cause anemia and other problems in children. It also contains tannin that inhibits the absorption of protein.
Some experts say green tea is good for children because it prevents tooth decay. That is true, but if you have kids under three, do not let them drink green tea, or any other tea and coffee beverages.
I am sure you are not under three, but I think the rationale that young kid should not drink tea is that it prevents the absorption of protein and may over stimulates.
Tell your mum she is wrong!

Green tea has many health benefits but it won't make you magically thinner. Using it to lose weight probably wont help you substantially in that department. I wouldnt say it is bad for you other than having a bit of cafeine in it...but if you drink coffee, it is probably a better choice. I wouldn't look too much into it if you just want to lose a few pounds. I dont think you should worry about losing weight though because you are still young. :)

RE:
Is green tea bad for teens?
I was wondering if green tea was bad for teens. I heard that it promotes weight loss, and boosts your metabolism. So, I asked my mom if she could buy me some and she said it was bad for teens. She said if I proved her wrong she would get some for me. Oh and if anyone finds information on this on...

green tea isn't bad for anybody except those that may be allergic to it. green tea is a great anti-oxidant along with the benefits of it aiding fat loss. i forget the exact amount of EGCG but usually 2-3 cups a day will result in a mild 2% increase in the RMR.
green tea is nothing new, health nuts have been drinking it for decades in the US and it's been in use in Asia for thousands of years
unfortunately deceptive marketing practices in the US allow it to be labeled something that it is not and that's a "fat burner". people take the term to literally and actually expect these types of supplements to melt fat away, but it doesn't work like that. there is tons of proven medical study that shows it's effects on lipolysis. but like most supplements results are usually best seen in those who are non-obese

I think green tea (or any other) may not be good for people with kidney problems .
And it has a lot of caffeine .
But Green tea have a lot of antioxidants (flavonoids) that protect the cells from cancers.

It can have a lot of caffiene in it, it gets me more wired than coffee does. But they sell decaf. I can't see where a cup hot, or glass of iced tea would hurt you, but if you're using it to clense your body in a weight loss way, that could get abusive. That's probably what you mom is worried about.

green tea is very healthy!
it has many anti-oxidents and you may drink if you're on a diet, but it isn't meant to help you loose weight. But too much of everything is unhealthy anyways.
