One of my older sisters is getting married next saturday. I am the maid of honor and have to give a speech. Personally I hate talking in front of a group of people. My sister is my best friend so I want the speech to be touching yet humorous. Her soon to be husband is nice, however my family, as well as myself and the bride doesnt not get along with his mom. (she refuses to communicate with us and insults us... not many people like this lady because of how negative she is) Im afraid with writing certain items which would be funny to the bride and groom, the grooms mom will get upset. I would love any ideas on how I could go about writing something that my sister will remember and like.

ok, you're psyching yourself out by thinking of it as a speech. Think of it as talking to your sister. That's the most important thing. If everyone else wants to listen to you tell your sis how happy you are that she has found the love of her life, reminding her of the nights you spent staying up describing how her love of her life would look, and figuring out that ............ comes pretty close. That the only thing that could possibly make this day better is if you knew for certain that you had her solemn promise to name their first child what you had promised each other when you were (whatever age..... girls always pick out really dumb names at that age). hahahahahahaha.. Then you know that they will e happy forever.

when I got married.. My best friend was my maid.. when it came time she started out by reminding me of our sleepovers .... she said... I guess those are over....... she asked me if i remembered my grandmother reading to s from her big book of fairy tales? All of the stories started out with Once upon a time..... then we would beg her to make us matching princesses outfits for halloween, cinderella one year, snow white the next.. we wanted to be the princess looking for our prince.. and we would spend hours telling each other what he would look like.. So.. Now you get to begin your "Happily Ever After"

my best friend tried to make me promise to name my first born what we had talked about at the age of 8....Finnegan Cleve.....OMG.... everyone started laughing hysterically.. our families are german and italian!!!!!

It doesn't matter what anyone else says about what you say, it is only going to matter to your sis and her new husband.

Enjoy yourself and make sure that she remembers every word you said, just like I do, 34 years later.

Make your speech own by employing thinking of the way it grow to be once you and your sister have been little ladies and the type you may make have self assurance approximately how your specific social gathering could be. What you the two could evaluate for flora, specific kinfolk and no count number in case you may disagree approximately what you the two needed in a guy. No negatives allowed, no tone of voice only make it as truthful as could be on your sister and not stay on the groom. you will no longer disrespect the different way of life as your sister has performed her only right in honoring them. now's the time to permit your sister comprehend (albeit quietly) how chuffed you're approximately her judgements and which you purely wish the only right for her. in case you chosen to place some thing in for the groom (out of know) only state that whether no longer definitely everyone would comprehend the adaptation in cultures yet that they've chosen to combination traditions with know to each and each others heritages.

I had to give a maid of honor speech once...I was pretty nervous so, I understand where you are coming from.

Your speech is to her and her new husband. Not his mom. If his mom has something negative to say, let her...a year from now, it won't matter. What will matter is what you say to your sister and her husband. It's a great opportunity to say something right from the heart that they will always remember.

Say a little about her as a little girl....then how excited she was when she meet her husband....then how crazy his life is going to be now being married to her.....then wish them many happy years together.

Write something from your heart. Write how happy you are for them, and the things they will get to enjoy together. Write what love is and how they found it. Speak from your heart and don't hold back .Who cares what his mother thinks. Its from your heart not hers.
