Actually you only read about them having *A* sword ONCE! And that was the night that Jesus said he would be betrayed. it is no wonder that it was PETER the impetuous who had it having probably grabbed it on the way out to the Garden of Gethsemane. It is also pretty instructive that he obviously did not know how to use it, as he only managed to whack off a guys ear! The most revealing point and the one that demonstrates one of the CHIEF differences between Jesus and others who claim to be from God, was that First Jesus said PUT THE SWORD AWAY! And then next heal ed the damage that Peter had caused.
The New testament is VERY clear to those who call themselves Christian that we are to "Follow Peace with ALL men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord!"

In the bible in the book of Hebrew 4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the hearts".
