You are right; such a thing IS impossible. All babies are atheists at birth, since they do not know or understand the concept of religion or God.
You cannot be born into any religion. You can be raised into one, though, and the religion in question depends on where you are born/your parents' religious beliefs. However, a child of Christians is NOT automatically a "Christian child" just because his/her parents are of that belief system. The child's religion should reflect his/her own decision, not his/her parents'. (Of course, oftentimes the child's religion will mimic the parents'. While such a child would be a "Christian child," a two-year-old who cannot grasp the concept of a God is NOT a "Christian child" just because his/her parents are.)
I'm guessing that a person saying that someone was "born as a Muslim" is attempting to refer to someone either born in an area that is predominantly Muslim or born into a family that believes in Islam. Of course, this is definitely the wrong wording to use, but that is probably what he/she was TRYING to say.

You don't. Thousands of Non Muslims convert every day. The statement "born as Muslims" might mean you came from a Muslim family.

Claiming any absolute with no evidence what so ever is absurd. Yes i hate when Muslims say that i was born a Muslim. That makes no sense what so ever.

You born free from all religions.
The parents and the society in which they are living impose the religion believes in the baby. That's all.

As absurd as "We are born atheists".
we're not born anything.
One exception is my 2 year old nephew, however. He went around the house stomping in a wave of fury, screaming, "How can you ignorant fools NOT understand that GOD DOESN'T EXIST?!"
Later, we changed his diaper.

VERY, VERY, VERY SILLY.
ABSURD
RIDICULOUS
DELUDED.
The fact of the matter is that we are all born as athiests.
We are all born totally devoid of any belief, any real skills, any knowledge. All has to be taught.
