Start doing some jogging on a regular basis, and some regular resistance (weight) training, and also eat healthy, don't eat any junk food, fast food, fried food and don't drink sugary drinks like soda or fruit juices. Eat moderate portions. Eat only lean meats (fish, chicken), and lots of fruits and veggies. Make sure you eat a healthy breakfast. Snack on a handful of nuts, a scoop of light cottage cheese, or a banana. Make sure not to skip a meal. If you do, you'll crave quick fixes and fatty and salty foods. If you can start making the above things part of your daily thinking and daily routine, I guarantee you will lose fat and gain healthy muscle. Read up on weight training, running and nutrition. Learn how to read food labeling so you're not fooled by misleading advertising such as "less fat" or "all-natural."
