No, it doesn't. However, we are not here to judge the actions of churches too harshly. Sometimes, it may be that church's way of attracting more people to attend. A big church can offer many programs and services to their members than a smaller church can. I, myself, like to see a big church utilize every asset that they have. But I also get very turned off by a church if they are too "showy".

In some cases, I think it makes it less true. If the religion is teaching simplicity, piousness, and unattachment to material wealth, what is the purpose of a big, ornate, ostentatious building?
