Energy as defined by your body is the ability to create certain molecules called ATP. The process in which these are created uses Glucose, the most basic sugar molecule. It would make sense then that the "highest energy" foods are the ones with readilly available glucose. Fructose and Dextrose are much more easy to find. Examples are Gatorade power, fruit, and anything with "sugar". Even milk's carbohydrates are a form of sugar.

I'd suggest water mixed with Dextrose (available from many nutrition shops) - make sure you get just dextrose though, and you aren't sold into any powders with other things such as protein, etc, which you dont need as your just looking for energy. Usually a moderately sized bag is about 5$ CAD. Very cheap! Gatorade is esentially the exact same thing, except it tastes better and is higher priced.

Good luck!
