I'm a 31 year old guy. 5' 3". For the past 2 years, i've taken up doing regular exercise. Been sporadic in the past, but I bought a treadmill( I like exercising indoors more than outdoors). I've been doing some weights and stuff, so I've put on some muscle. But I mainly do cardio, since i want to lose weight more than put on muscle. I do 4 miles in 1 hour, slight angle. I've gone from around 159 to 152 in a couple weeks. I keep stalling around 152, though. I watch my calories and carbs, try to not eat too late in the evening. But i want to lose about 20 pounds by the time it gets warm out. What's the best way for me personally to do this? I feel like there's just one more thing im not doing right...

Let's look into some biology to answer this question. Your body gets its energy from sugars. Mainly carbohydrates and fat. If you lower your intake of carboyhydrates, your body will be forced to break down the fats instead of carbs, effectively reducing your weight, with minor side effects (stomach ache and others). This is the Atkins diet in a nutshell.

It depends how long you've been at it, but it sounds like you're on the right track. It takes at least 6 weeks to see any results from exercising, and usually much longer to see drastic results. You might want to try running faster miles... a 15-minute mile is a brisk walk for some. Make sure you keep jogging the whole time, even if it feels slow. You'll get more out of it than running, tiring yourself out, walking, and then trying to run again. You should also try varying your workouts. Try biking or an elliptical machine sometimes. Weight-lifting is good, but make sure you lift lower amounts of weight and do more repetitions to acheive more strength (endurance for your cardio!) instead of bulking up.

If you're really hell-bent on losing weight, you could try the Master Cleanse (there are websites about it, but pick up the book by Stanley Burroughs before you try it). You consume nothing but a certain tea for 10 days or more and you'll most definitely lose *some* weight. I've done it so I know it's possible, but it's not for the faint-hearted.

Good luck!

I got stuck for ages with my excess weight so I got a bit of help, if losing some pounds of any description and inches is what you want then I would suggest you use a diet that is all natural and is rich in protein and vitamins, which is what the FDA recommends. I used a protein based diet after a friend who had lost a lot of weight with this recommended it to me. All the way through you feel great and energized, you also get great coaching and support along the way. The people are very friendly and gave me lots of great advice. I needed to lose 40 pounds and I did so with no problems. The products really work and you feel great whilst losing weight. I lost all my weight in less than four months and they have helped me to keep it off. I would definitely recommend using them. My sister did this also and lost 76 pounds in five months (She works out, I don’t). There is no pressure and they will even send you a load of free samples so you can try before you buy. The samples were the thing that initially convinced me that this was the right diet for me. You also a get a free complete health consultation with the samples, I think I just paid the postage, but for what I got it was well worth it. You have to go to www.myhealthabc.com to register your details to get the free samples and the free advice etc and then they just call you up and ask you a few questions. It was so easy. Their main site is www.myhealthabcmall.com and you can see all the products and packages and order from their. Its nice to have contact with real people who care about you losing weight and improving your health. I am in better health now than I have ever been thanks to these products and I know that I will continue to keep the weight off with the help I have received. I hope this helps.
