The Virgin River runs through at least 3 states (Utah, Arizona, and Nevada) ending in Lake Mead and after flooding 2 years ago, it became polluted with waste from peoples' sesspools, etc. Who can I contact to get it cleaned up?

Each state has a stake in the river as it is their water source but it is also under federal jursitiction as well. So I'd suggest calling the Feds first. EPA if your interrested.

Everyone has a responsibility to the environment. A dead environment is horrible and unclean and an unclean environment for animals makes me wonder about if people even care about the environment they live in, despite what some may think we are connnected. Call the EPA they have laws and regulations for that stuff. You could also call you local river authority, that would be easier than the EPA since they are direcetly responsible for the river.

We all have the responsibility of cleaning up after ourselves. Getting people to do it though is very had indeed. The same problem exists in Australia. The federal government is planing to take responsibility for the rivers away from the states in an effort to sustain the rivers and unify efforts.

I believe every city or town that has a river, or lake, should have a monitor group to clean, the waters. I so hate to see rail road ties, appliances, bottles, cans, tree limbs, and trash in our waters. It makes me sad, as well as mad. Also, a fine should be imposed if someone is caught dumping. This harms people and fish. So therefore, the fine should be "imposed." Thank you for reading.
