All the time. Even in my own faith I find things I disagree with. I'm not particularly fond of Silver Ravenwolf. I sometimes even disagree with my teacher, who is a Dianic. Still, disagreeing with something doesn't mean you can't learn from it.

From what I am reading here, it seems that most people are talking about books that either support or undermine evolution. Don't you guys have any other interests?

I read books that tell me more about a subject I already know something about.

There are some really good books by James Cavanaugh, about the different eras of the American experiment. It is called The American Family series.

I have also read some good books by T. Davis Bunn, about the French Acadians who came from France to Nova Scotia, and later migrated down to Louisiana.

These are excellent books if you are interested in learning about different periods in our country's history.

I only do not read books that disagree with the bible . I.E. books with sex, imorality, swearing, taking God's name in vain and I read a book in one or two nights so usually have 8 or more on hand along with my very large Christian books library, accumulated with over 30 years teaching adults the bible and boy do I still have a lot to learn. Our local l ibrayr is getting in more and more Christian books and they complain they can't keep up with my insationable appetite for them! Fun!

I tried to read a book on "The Book of J" but it was so filled with the words 'assumption' or 'I figure' or 'come to the conclusion' within the first chapter, that it made only too much sense that the rest of the book was a lie.

One in particular is about a sort of religion called the Fourth Way. It can work, some of it. When they start on the part about dreams being meaningless and that emotions are a waste of energy, I put it down. Personally all I have are my dreams, I would say the opposite, with my dreams I can start a whole new spiritual understanding and I'm sure the same goes with many of us.

Yes, I often read scientific journals that are all for evolution. I am a creationist. I think that if I just close my eyes and pretend that there aren't any arguments, I'll be just as bad as the rest of the hypocrites in this nation.

Kant: The groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals ... totally disagree with this influential book. Half of everything wrong in ethics in the last 200 years comes from this book. But now I know why.

I read a book arguing for creationism and against evolution (I can't remember the title), but I couldn't make it all the way through. It's hard to read nonsense.

Of course. How am I supposed to understand or back up my own beliefs if I don't know those of others. And the Bible was going to be on my list...
