put toys in with him like a kong filled with kibble. He'll be too occupied trying to get the food to think about chewing. Also there is a "bitter" spray at the pet store you can get to spray the bed with to stop if need be.

You can try adding some of your clothes like a T-shirt, your scent could comfort them when you are away.

When crate training also be sure to always keep your dog's crate as a positive place. Never punish your dog by putting them in their crate, or they are going to associate punishment with being in the crate.

You have to train it to stop not with toys.
First off everytime he starts chewing on the it just hold him down and wait about 5 seconds till he is calm then let him go. Whenever he tries to chew on the bed put him down like that,
Whenever he doesnt try to chew on it give him a little treat
simple

My dog used to do the same thing I think it was just a sign that he knew it was his bed and he didnt want anyone to touch it because he would growl a little when I would take it out to clean it. I tried white vinegar in a spray bottle and he doesn't chew on it any more but still growls because he thinks he isn't getting it back lol. So you may want to try white vinegar in a spray bottle and spray his bed.

If he's chewing up his bed take it out of his crate, give him some toys to play with.

He is bored, take the bed out, and give him a couple of chew toys. If he is teething then he really needs something to chew on.

Im so glad you asked this- mine does it too, its like he panics and thinks itll let him out. I have trained him to lay down with the lay down command and when I catch him doing it I tell him to lay down and he stops. But this only works while youre there- thanks for asking!!

Do the sprays really work?

Oh and James- if you knew anything about dogs- Letting them run all over the house when they arent crate trained is not good and very dangerous for owner and pet. Especially when you are not home to watch them. Maybe you should do a little research on dogs.

How about letting him go wherever he wants in the house, rather than stuffing him into a little box? My dog has the run of the house. At first he was a little wild, but I was patient with him, and he learned. Now he enjoys looking out the windows, sleeping on the couch and chair, getting a drink when he likes, and barking at anyone who comes too close.
