i have a 5 month maltipoo. he stays home by himself from 7:15-11:30 and then from 12-3. he stays in a small hallway. there are two doorways that are blocked off by baby gates. Today, however, he jumped over the gates and got out. Luckily i was home though. are there any producs you know of that would be tall enough he wont jump over, and preferebly has no holes that he could get his foot caught in?

Our dog did the same thing!! We got him a crate that had enough room for him to play a little and he lives in there when we are not around. We let him out as soon as we come home, but it is a cozy place for him to hang out while we are not home. It also helps tremendously with house training!!!!!

Have you considered crate training him? That is the safest thing for both of you, and he'll know what's expected of him (sleep!) when he's in the crate.

There are lots of places to read about crate training, but main thing is to make it comfy and let him know it's his special hideaway, not a punishment. Good luck!

Get a crate for your puppy and crate train him. Since you come home you can give him special love when you let him out. When you train him make it a special place for just him, make it a positive time for him and soon he will enjoy spending time in his special "house"

I would get a puppy kennel or carrier that is big enough so he can move around and eat and drink and play while you are gone. I had the same problem with my Jack/Rat until we put him in his kennel and now he is fine and I don't have to worry about a big mess when I come home.

Crate training is best. he will learn that the crate is his "den" and like being there. it'll take some time though. try putting dog toys like a kong filled with kibble to occupy him while crated.

Try a crate. Very popular and they will keep him confined and he wont be able to get out.

You could try getting some of those large bricks and lining them up underneath the baby gate so you can get it higher. Or anything else solid like a brick. I really do not recommend crates, unless you are a lazy bum.

Get him a crate. Both my dogs are crated, one is an escape artist but we've out done him.
