It is wrong to murder another person. Killing is sometimes necessary. It's the State that carries out the death penalty not an individual... Jim

Under the law of the land, death for death. But in Christianity, when one is saved from their sins, that person is no longer a murderer. And the murdering demons are cast out.
Me, personally, couldn't be the person doing the killing. Because, every person, has a chance to repent and have their sins washed away in Jesus Christ redeeming blood before they die. That is also for the worst murderer. Because when a muderer finds Jesus, Jesus Blood cleanses the person from all sins. The demons are cast out first.
I know that also, some people need to be made an example of so others will not want to do the same murderings. But the murderer should be presented Gods Saving Grace before death.

The Bible says "Do not murder." So that means don't kill anyone. BUT Death Penalty is NOT a sin. It is a consequencial death. God even told the Isrealites to stone people for having sex out of marriage. Don't listen to what harbinger or whatever his name is said.(he was the first person to write) although there is a thumbs up on his.(I accidently clicked on the thumbs up instead of the thumbs down.)

There are situations throughout the bible where death at the hands of another human was commanded and allowed by God. I guess the answer is, it is usually wrong, but isn't necessarily wrong. I think the same answer applies to the question regarding the death penalty.

Killing is different than murdering. As many people know, and try to use against Christianity, God orders the Israelites to kill many nations, and even tells them to kill off ENTIRE groups of people.
What's the difference? Law. We are still to uphold the law. United States law illegalizes murder, but sometimes delivers the death penalty. We can fight against it, but are physically under that law. Spiritually, we are free to follow God. If the law made it illegal to, say, pray, then we are to suffer the consequences that the law gives us for praying.
Sorry, I don't have any scriptural backup. This is my opinion, which is liable to be wrong.

Speaking of the spiritual law or God's law, it is prohibited to kill another man because it is a sin against God.
Death penalty was enacted by the government to punish guilty prisons from committing it. and it is the government who implements it.There is a separation of the state and religion that is why religion is not minding the government in implementing death penalty, however, religious people could intervene by asking the government the possibility of not implementing it but if the government will not hear the request of the religious people, they must implement it. Law is law to the government.

It's wrong to kill another person. It makes death penalty, the war on Irak, the threats to Iran, unhindered free market, global warming, the plundering of the south, the crimes against natives... (a long etc. follows)... all wrong. Most of the aforementioned sins are committed (and hatched out and advertised) by christians, either persons or cultures.

Is it wrong to kill another person? Yes.
Mat 5:21 Mar 10:19 Luk 18:20 Rom 13:9 Jam 2:11 - "Do not kill"
does that make the death penalty wrong? Yes.
NEW TESTAMENT TEACHINGS OF JESUS
In the Sermon on the Mount [SM], in Mat 5:38-42, Jesus answers Exo 21:22-25 as follows:
You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ But now I tell you: do not take revenge on someone who wrongs you. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, let him slap your left cheek too. And if someone takes you to court to sue you for your shirt, let him have your coat as well. And if one of the occupation troops forces you to carry his pack one kilometre, carry it two kilometres. When someone asks you for something, give it to him; when someone wants to borrow something, lend it to him.
(Rom 12:17): "Repay no evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all";
(Rom 12:19): "Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God."

According to Christians, it is wrong. It's one of the Ten Commandments. The Death Penalty would, I guess, depend on how literally you take the Commandments.

Not necessarily.
1. Exodus 20 "thou shall not murder..." it is an issue of intent. Did you intend to murder them or was it accidental?
2. Government has the authority, by God, to punish lawbreakers & to protect it's people. They are given the sword of justice & judgment...which includes upholding the dignity & worth of human life. Which includes the death penalty for those who trample on other humans.
3. Revenge, vengance is ALWAYS wrong. Justice is appropriate & in my opinion, as well as in the Bible, taking a persons life intentionally = forfeiting your own life. Human life is THAT important!
