I am a nursing student in need of this information. I have looked quite a few places and books and cannot find any information in this. I would appreciate anyone knowing where I can find it on the internet or has any information on this topic.

Thank You.

My neice had oseomiloitis, are you referring to the same thing?

If you are, I can tell ya that basically what happened with my neice.
A hammer fell on her big toe. She lost that toe nail. About 2 months later my neice started to complain saying ow ouch everytime she walked (she was barely 2). She had a fever and it wouldn't go away.

Well it ended up being oseomiloitis and she had to have surgery.

It turned out that it is a staph infection in her bone marrow. That is what oseomilotis is. I hoped this helps. Also try google and type in the word. You can find images on it and I am sure somewhere out there in lala land is an article. Possibly check your spelling.

the best place to get patient instructions and infornation is to call a doctor that treats it and ask for the nurse. She'll help you. You could type in osteomylitis but I don't know if there is a national foundation for it or not. Since it leads to amputations it seems that you should get info for the care of it fairly easily. Levaquin is a antibiotic commonly given for it- maybe theri site has answer for patients. I am sure you can only get so much- the Doctor diagnosis it- the you get antibiotics either IV or oral them you go home wother with the limb or not. Check out the key words . Orthopedic surgeons should have some info

Osteomyelitis is an infection of the bone and its surrounding soft tissues. most commonly caused by Staphylococcus aureus. How does this get to the bone? By open wound (fracture or surgery), through the bloodstream. Its characteristic symptoms are pain and tenderness of bone, redness and swelling over the bone, difficulty with weight bearing, and there may be drainage from wound site. As for diagnostic tests, WBC's up, ESR is also up and blood culture is positive.

Bone infection. My husband had it years ago, they cut it open and put teflon in it. Then recently he got staph infection and they did it again same arm.I have not been able to locate any information on teaching. Other than keeping it simple. Just the facts. It happens like cancer, no warning and no reason.
