There is a way to stop the shedding all together but you need to wait till temps get higher than 50 and stay in that area , I do this to mine every april and september.......... I shave them

Only way to get the fur off is to comb, or brush the cat. The best combs as the ones made out of metal, the ones with pretty even teeth. However, I don't use a comb, I use a brush that has teeth on one side and a brush on the other side. This way I can calm the cat with the brush and use the teeth side inbetween to get at the fur.

I use a wire brush on my cats and they love it and it does a pretty good job.

You can also purchase deshedding tools that brush all of the loose hair in their undercoat which helps a lot for animals who shed a lot.

I would just take it to the groomer and have them give it a nice bath and brushing out. Get rid of the majority of it.

I've found that the best comb for getting rid of the undercoat is basically a flea comb. It's got short teeth and they're very close together. That and a wire bristle brush that's actually meant for dogs.

any of the widely spaced bristle brushes do well. i flea comb mine--his fur is very fine--but other kitties needed more of a brush. those hand mits for fur are good, also. vacuum often in spring!!!!! those hand mitts for fur are good also. do not forget to clean the heat/aircond filters frequently until kitty stops shedding, as they clog/get very dirty very fast.

I use a lint roller. You know the kind with the sticky peel off tape. It works great, the cat dosen't mind it, and it's not throwing hair everywhere.

Good Luck!
