Most digital cameras can't be used as a web-cam. If you left them turned on & filming for an hour or so, you'd fry the sensor. (Digital cameras have a much higher resolution than webcams and the sensors are much more delicate.) For this reason - or better put, to avoid lawsuits - they simply don't offer any possiblity to use them as web-cams.
A few models CAN be used as webcams however. Usually cheap models. These will include instructions in the user's manual.

Digital camcorders and digital cameras with USB port can be used as a webcam. Most digital camcorders and cameras available in the market have USB ports. The advantage of using digital camcorders and cameras is that they have higher resolution and clearer video broadcast than normal or ordinary web cam. No harm doing this because these cams were designed to be used as web cam as well.

Switch on the web cam option of your cam and connect it to your pc through USB cable. But you have to load the cam driver if it is asked by windows. Load the driver from the CD that came with you cam.
