those times are unbelievable, you have a real talent for running and you should continue running in high school, most high school runner run between 5-7.5 min miles

That is a very good time for a 14 yr old girl. You can run the track faster if you will run even laps so you do not go out too fast or too slow. Try to run the first lap in 70 seconds, that is a 4:40 mile pace. It is much faster than the 5:05 you have run, but not much faster than the 4:45. Regardless you are doing good, so keep on running.

Not to criticize, but if you're running 4:45 as a 14yr old I'm sure there would have been plenty of people that would have told you you were fast and you wouldn't be coming onto Yahoo! Answers to ask a question like this. As others have said before, there are high school guys who are state ranked who run that time.

After checking out some sites I've also noticed that the fastest youth girls were just underneath 4:40. If you really ran what you claim you would not be asking if you were fast.

The world record for an outdoor mile is 3:47 (Hicham El-Guerrouj) you idiots! The indoor record is 3:52 (Guerrouj). This is world class runners. The national record for boys HS outdoor is 3:54 (Alan Webb). Are you running downhill? I am very skeptical about your times. Either that or you want a pat on the back or something? It is good for a girl, I don't know many 14 year old girls that run under 5:30.

Yes, that is an extremely good time; however, I don't mean to be well...mean or anything, but it is extremely hard to believe that you're telling the truth. The best runner in my high school (a male, who also happens to be the best runner in the state, and who's been running most of his life) hits that time all the time, but he's about 5 years older than you, and is a guy. It's a good time; it's just hard to believe that a 14 year old girl could hit that time.

Hey GREAT work. My sister a senior in high school runs a personal best of 5:04. She has gotten recruits all over for college. So basically join up on cross country to keep endurance and your mile time will improve. You are going to be a great runner. Good luck.

I once heard that there was no such thing as a stupid question but that has now been proven wrong. Is four miles in 28 minutes fast for a 26 year old male with a torn supraspinatus?

it sounds fast. Roger Banister did it in 4 minutes and took a world record as the first man to run a mile in under minutes, you're not very far behind him, you have youth on your side, I believe Bannister was in his twenties when he did his record beating run, Keep up the hard work and I'll look out for you in the olympics, shout Yahoo when you win and we'll all know it's you!

Unbelievable. As in, hard to believe that you're stating that you run that time (or that a 14 year old you know runs that time) and then questioning if it's fast. Was it downhill straight???
