Although my experience has been only with American jails, from what I've heard and read the best place to do time is Denmark. The jails are cleaner, the food is better, and the prisoners are treated very humanely, if they follow the rules.

I think any society in the world can have good jails where prisoners can't escape. Anyone can have jails where jail birds can hopefully be rehabilitated and prepared to reintegrate society. Anyone can give them tools to hopefully change their life and not re offend.

I think not many correctional systems have good prevention of crime programs. To me, a country who invest in crime prevention in big ways is definitely the country with the best jail system.

Sweden. Prisoners are given private rooms with televisions, and are also given ample opportunity for education and rehabilitation. Drug addicts are given adequate medical care, and the mentally unstable are given proper counseling. The Swedes figure that the biggest punishment is being denied one's freedom, so there's no need to mail jail a living hell on top of it.

if I had my choice I would take the jail the politicians go to as the are treated like human beings, they have decent food and they don't haft to work 10 hours a day for 35 cents per hr, and get their azz kicked if they don' make production, for the owners of PRISON INDUSTRIES , LIKE UNI CORE. where the prison nor the gov get any benefit from prison labor as the prison industries are privately owned by the U,S'
. MARSHALL'S SERVICE, JUDGES, PROSECUTORS, F,B,I, AGENTS ETC, THAT IS THE BIG REASON WE HAVE OVER CROWDED PRISONS THEY MAKE SURE THEY HAVE ENOUGH SLAVE LABOR,

I reckon Alcatraz (USA) and Robben Island (South Africa). The main reason is that they are tourist attractions and no longer incarcerate people. Also they are both islands and I think that's pretty cool. Even though they are prisons I like the idea of being trapped on an island. It's like Gilligan with a criminal record.

Depends what you mean by "best". If I were going to prison I would want to go to any Federal prison in the U.S. It's where they send all the crooked politicians that get busted. It's white collar, they get to play games outside and watch t.v.
