I'm not a religious man, in fact I'm fairly anti-religion, too many people have died because of all of the different relgions.
What amazes me though, is I just put a question on here asking whether people beleived religion to be outdated now. I was amazed at the amount of angry responses I got, people seemed to suddenly hate me because I don't believe in their religion. Doesn't this kind of go against many of the ideals of religion? Shouldn't religious people be a little more enlightened and less angry?

Many people get angry when they are not confident enough in their faith to be able to be rational when they are contradicted. I don't recall Jesus getting angry when questioned prior to his death. I guess the model he offered doesn't apply to the modern faithful.

I don't recall the martyrs cursing those who were killing them. I guess their example doesn't apply either.

The point is that faith breeds confidence, and confidence brings forth a means to communicate with a dissenter that doesn't involve anger.

Still, I get upset at times, but it's usually at stupidity rather than challenge. Then again, I'm not a Christian, but I still aspire to a higher form of communciation than angry rhetoric. I guess I've a bit to learn as well.

I'm a religious person, but you have a right to your opinion.
However I can understand that some people would easily get defensive at a question. All of us religious people believe that religion is not outdated, but thats what we believe.

If you dont want people to jump down your throat everytime you make a comment, perhaps you should make them a little more general. I'm sure there are people who think that religion is outdated, but people also need something to hold on to

Do you angry when someone say something against your believe?
do you angry when someone talking bad about you?

You keep seeing religion in the negative way. Why don't you try to see a religion in a positive way. All the religions in this world teach a good thing in their peoples. we cannot blame the religion. we should blame the people. religion never tell their people to kill anyone, drink alcoholic drink, do sex before marriage. It's forbidden but people doesn't follow it.

if we does't have religion, what is the main reason we live in this world? do we live in this world just to grow up, play, learn, go to school, work, married and then die? think about it.

People who hang onto religion use it as a crutch. They get all fired up with self righteousness and should you not believe, only God himself can save you because they will run you over trust me. The problem here is they and only they have the special path to God. The path to God in christian terms is the only way and the path is well worn. But would God be that unfair as to have only christians be saved? Why not Buddists if there were more gentle people ever created find me them for buddists have a gentler way about them. God I am sure is a fair minded God and has a few things to say to all those religious zealots they I am sure are going to have to bend over and take their punishment for believing they are above the rest!

If someone were to call you a moron would you get a little mad? Naturally you would. We Christians are human and not something people like yourself seem to think. We sin, live, eat, sleep, have sex and all the other things you do, but we know there is a much higher being than ourselves in this universe and He is no alien. He is God Almighty. We just don't like to be made fun of or have people call us ignorant when we know better and know who the ignorant ones are. We're just human like all the rest. We know exactly where we are going and we want very badly for all that we can convince to go with us. Our Lord has promised us His love and you too if you will just accept it and love Him back. He is our Father and yours too but some folks are just too smart for their own good I suppose. God Bless...

Meh, I don't care if you don't like my religion, matter of fact I expect you not to. ^_^ My beliefs are far from mainstream, which is good for me, but bad for fundamentalists. But I, at least, accept all other religious views, and many find it offensive if you don't at least respect them. It's basically why I don't like fundamentalists, who state that their religion is the ONLY path to "salvation" or whatever, and are generally asses to people who don't agree with them. As long as you're tolerant of others' beliefs, everyone except hardcore fundies shouldn't have a problem with you. Ignore the fundies and respect the rest. The fundamentalists are the ones who start the wars, anyway. XD

I am a Christian and i believe religion should be done away with. Religion is nothing more than mans pathetic wasy to rule people and make their own wasy in getting to heaven. I will only believe what God left in the bible for us. Its not mans but Gods' and anyone who hates, adds to or takes away from the bible isnt showing what God lived and died for. Next time you see a Christian acting this way call him out and tell him or her.

Because their religious ideas are built on such weak flimsy arguments that they cannot stand up to a completely honest debate. In fact the Resurrection tales vary so drastically that you would have to believe in spite of the bible not because of it. But in spite of whatever the religion is it's the same all around, belief in the unbelievable - that's the very definition of Faith.

People get mad when you dog their religion, the same way non believers get mad when we post questions about them. Its a 2 way street. Nobody likes it when their beliefs are questioned or insulted by others.

Before you go around saying that its just the "religious" people who get mad on here, take a look at all the answers left by atheists who get pissed just because we believe in something. Your question is very one sided. Christians, atheists, muslims, etc, all have their fair share of people who get nasty on here when someone disagrees with their beliefs.

When people talk about religion some don't know what they're talking about ( no research ) they just keep talking about what they have no clue about. I don't know what you said against a religion but if they got angry it might have been because you didn't have proof to backup what you were saying.
