For example a Junior dating a freshman or a Sophmore dating a freshman. Today is this normal for kids in high school?

I did it, and I hardly dated anyone from my high school.

I don't know if it is now more normal than it ever was, but it is definitely a common enough situation.

I remember when I was about 15, my mom didn't want me dating a boy who was 17 and a year ahead of me. She thought he would be able to take advantage of me more easily than a guy my own age. So I know it's a point of contention for some parents of the younger party involved. I think that's just a trust issue that needs to be addressed, though.

yes, as long as they are both under 18.
