I saw someone actually beat their dog to death today and in front of numorous people and children. The dog had only peed on the floor and the person went crazy and started hitting the dog when the dog tried to defend itself and bite the person picked it up and then smashed its head into the floor a number of times before anyone could get them to stop. Five minutes later the dog died. I was told I was to forget it and let it go that it was the past and nobody needed to know but I am sick and tore up about what this person did. Now everyone is babying the person who beat the dog and protecting them. I was told that if I say anything about it problems would be started in the family and to just let it go. But I can't and I am mad! This was an adult not a child!

That's horrible! I think you know what you need to do. You know that dog has no one to speak for him now but you. Call your local humane society and talk to them about it. Just think. The temper responsible for that dog's death could easily be turned on a child someday.

I am so sorry you had to see this. Thank God the dog is in heaven now away from this cruel adult.

Obviously there is nothing you can do for the dog, but know that this person *is* sick. If he beat a dog like that it is virtually guaranteed he will beat a wife or a child like that someday. Are you in school? If so, please talk to a counselor, or a minister or someone you can trust. Even look up in the yellow pages the United Way referral service to a mental health professional. No, I'm not saying you need the mental health fix, but the fact that this person committed a violent act in front of children is very important and there may be ways you can counteract the damage by talking to the children individually. I understand family dynamics are sticky, but it won't get any better by "letting it go." The professional you speak with confidentially can help you deal with what you saw and also ways to protect yourself and the children from this person in the future.

Pray for everyone involved, even if you're not religious! Pray for the soul of the dog too, it will help. Again, I'm sorry you had to witness this.

First and for most that is something you should never ever forget. Say it was you, wouldn't you want someone to report the person who hurt you? Things to do when a situation like this happens:
** Call the cops
** http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=cruelty_report
This website is for the ASPCA for animals that have been abused.

You will need to know the person who did this and where it happened. You can stay private and you don't have to give any information out. The person who did this horrible crime needs to pay. Today was a dog, tomorrow it could be a baby!!

To me, murder is murder no matter which being is killed. What that person did was absolutely horrible. The fact that he made the dog suffer while it was dying made it even worse. I would most definitely call either the police or animal cruelty people or whatever they're called. Don't be intimidated by whoever threatened you. You are doing the right thing. That alone should give you the courage to face threats. If you are still afraid something bad will happen to your family, don't tell anyone you are calling the police/animal cruelty investigator people. I really hope everything works out ok.

I am a member of the ASPCA and this is disgusting to even hear! You really need to report him...no joke. If you dont he will probably do it again. If you dont call the police and report this then you're more disgusting than they are, and im not judging you or anything because i know your probably mature and decent enough to do something. Don't let them scare you, stand up and make a difference!

If I was in your position, I would report them. I know it's really hard to come forward, but I don't think I could live with myself if I didn't. And the person who beat his dog to death is probably just going to get another dog to replace his murdered dog, and he'll probably murder that one too. And then that would be my fault.

I would report this immediately. Call the police, call the shelters, call the humane society. Call anyone who will listen. You can remain anonymous. No one should protect a person like this. Next time it may be a child this person kills.

i know i hate those kind of people man if they cant take care of a poor pet and just abuse it it will suffer more with you than the pound. For me my family loves animals/pets i just tell one of my family and they tell their friends either to report it or not i mean man i know there will be consequences but America is a free country free of speech you have the right to say what is on your mind . but some people doesn't have the guts to do it though but i dont know if its right / im just a kid nobody will listen to me

Report them! Anyone who can do that to a dog has anger management problems, and needs to get help. Maybe you can do it anonymously. Contact your local humane officer and ask their advice. If you don't speak up for that poor dog, no one will.

You need to anonymously contact the authorities about this.It is only a matter of time before this person does what he did to that dog to another person.
