If your having a problem since the cleaning you should call and ask to be see by the dentist. Let him evaluate the area to see what is wrong. I think by protruding you mean the tissue is swollen showing more tooth than usual. It may be that she pushed a little too far under removing some calculus and has the tissue irritated. Use some really warm salt water rinses for a few days, this will ease the tenderness in the tissue. But go back and let the dentist take a look although I'm sure he did a check after she was finished cleaning your teeth. Hope I've been of some help and good luck. I'm sure you'll feel better soon.

I'm not a professional, but don't ALL your teeth protrude from your gums?

If there is a space, it sounds like there was deposit/buildup and the space is where it was removed. Keep flossing and use a mouthrinse, like Listerine 2x day.

Any cleaning that your RDH did wouldn't have damaged your gums.
