Yes you should see a doctor-

Im going to rule out gas, because of hte extreme pain that you are experiening. You could be suffering from cholitis, chrones disease or someother GI disturbance.

You could have polyps, diverticuli, or a slightly perforated bowel.
At this point, you need to see a doctor because all of these conditions could lead to worse and worse problems, if not handled appropriately.

Good luck.

As always, you should follow your instincts. There is absolutely nothing wrong with insisting to be checked out by a doctor if you're worried, and most are happy to do it. If it comforts the two of you at all, types of abdominal pains are common, in all sorts of forms. I actually started getting severe lower abdominal pains starting at about 12 weeks, and it turned out to be an uncommon type of pregnancy-related hernia casued by pressure aginst the muscle wall. There is also pain associated with the uterus stretching out. Also, between 12-15 weeks, the uterus begins to expand beyond the pelvic bone's ability to contain it, and will feel uncomfortable until it *pops* over the pelvic bone. All this being said, do trust your instincts. If your wife is at all concerned, there is nothing wrong with calling the doctor to get it checked. Good Luck.
