Within the first few minutes you arrive, whether you have little expereince or tons of experience, what should you do, I'm guessing you would want to start cutting up your garnishes, and check to see if the bar is stocked, is that sort of how the first few minutes of the first shift should go ? And from there ?

that's a good beginning!

more things to do... check your stock of liquor, beer, supplies, (napkins, straws, etc.) and foodstuffs... check glasses and surfaces for cleanliness... check draft beer kegs (the last shift might have left you dry!)... count your till if that's part of your duties... survey the customers you already have, a good way to make them happy is to ask if there's anything they would like to watch on tv or any music they'd like to listen to... know the nightly specials and whatever entertainment there is... and check bathrooms for cleanliness and stock.

you're all set... are you buying?

look around to see where everyhing is at. Ask questions ie. what are the popular drinks served, what is the pourcount per drink. Get a price list start memorizing. Don't always trust coworkers they might not be doing things the way management, owners expect things to be done

Wipe down your bar and count your bar record your numbers on your sheet so that at the end of the night your money is correct according to what you may or may not have left. Oh, and remember to say hello to your customers, let them know you will be with them shortly.

WTG patz, I think you covered everything!!! Some places do inventory on certain nights too, so the next morning you might have a lot of things to put away.

You're on the ball so far, just make sure you talk to all of your customers, even if you are shy-I don't know you-so I can't tell.

Always keep their drinks full and you'll do dandy!
