Well I would seek professional help to figure out what is going on and then would not let him-her go anywhere without supervision until you know what the problem is try talking , try anything, grounding I feel really bad for you I cannot imagine how this makes you feel. You have to be scared to death to turn your back for fear he-she will take off again and with the child crime out there it is dangerous. God Bless you. Get professional help as soon as possible and get in touch with your school counslor also they can keep a eye out at school. Good luck to you. Let us know how things come along...

What kind of supervision does the child have when they run away? are they at home/school? there must be some 'issue' that is causing this to happen.... what is home life like... maybe they need more one on one time with you.... activities you can both do together.... talk to the school counselor and let them know what is going on and see if they can help at all too? So many aspects of your life we don't know about so it is hard to give advice without insight

A good eye opener is Juvie. It sounds bad but once they see the alternative they would rather follow the rules than be secluded and with out rights. Parenting is hard, especially when it feels like you have no control. Some times the only way to gain control is by third party assistance.

you could have him declared a deliquent and have him put in foster care.
he may find that way that the grass is not so green on the other side and that you will not play his game any more.
a neighbor of mine did that many years ago and her daughter straightened right up!

what is going on at home..to make this child so unhappy..as to want to run away.
children only want to run away from a situation they dislike.
