Guam is like a typical American area with some island culture tossed in.

It is a bit more expensive than stateside places because much of what is used there has to be shipped in. Your father is to be stationed at Anderson Air Base I guess and you will have base privileges, that means you can get low cost items via the bx.

Temperatures will vary between 70 F and 90 F year round.

A rather small island, has become a vacation site for Japanese, particularly honeymooners, it is cheaper to get there than all the way to Hawaii. Much is jungle and barren, high cliffs near many beaches. It is rather isolated and nowhere to go. After a few days you have seen it all. Good Luck

I agree with Khorat's answers. I enjoyed my time there very much. Great fishing, snorkling, good food, friendly people and just a great place. Anderson AFB is where I stayed and it was good. Enjoy the culture and you will enjoy your time there. Cheers
